Mission Statement: The mission of the Suitland High School Library Media Center is to enrich and supplement the curriculum of the Prince George’s County Public School System. The library media program assists students and staff to identify, locate, evaluate, and use needed materials in a variety of formats. The program helps students with their curricular, informational, and recreational needs in a rapidly changing technological world.

Raul Navas, Crossland High School
Mission Statement: Our primary goal is to teach our students how to become college and career ready. Crossland’s Media Center Team provides library media services to Crossland’s staff and students (over 100 staff members and over 1,300 students). We meet the needs of our customers (students, teachers and other staff members) by helping them find, evaluate and use the right resources (books, information, ideas, equipment) for the business of education.

The Duval High School Library Media Center supports the mission of DuVal High School to prepare our students to compete successfully for desirable academic and career opportunities in an increasingly global society. The mission is accomplished by collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources and technology with classroom activities and students interests by offering a wide range of books and multimedia resources. Students are taught to use information effectively and the reading initiatives of the systems are supported.

Mike Brown/Bowie High School/The mission of the Bowie High School Library Media Center is to teach students to be effective users of information and to encourage and prepare students to be life-long learners. This mission is accomplished by providing instruction in information literacy, providing intellectual and physical access to informational materials in a variety of formats and media, stimulating interest in reading and in finding and using information and ideas, promoting the use of the media center by students and faculty, working with teachers to develop educational strategies to meet the information needs of students and to augment teaching, supporting the system’s curriculum and reading initiatives.

Sharon Calvin/Surrattsville High School/The Surrattsville High School Library Media Center supports the mission of Surrattsville High School in preparing our students to be 21st Century learners who actively participate in a global society. We promote student excellence and achievement through collection development, technological resources, and teacher collaboration and student instruction. The media center maintains a responsibility to foster a life-long love of learning and reading.

The mission of the High Point High School Library Media Center is to facilitate for our students the knowledge of and use of these 21st Century Skills: to develop critical thinking; to use, apply, and share knowledge ethically; to develop the latest technology and social skills; and to pursue personal and aesthetic growth. The Library Media Center also provides access to an organized and diverse collection of materials in a variety of formats that supports and enriches the Common Core curriculum and encourages and enhances the foundational skill of reading.
